Julie Mason

Bio: Julie Mason is the host of the Press Pool on Sirius XM’s POTUS channel 124, heard weekdays from 3-6 ET. Prior to joining Sirius XM in 2011, Julie was a White House correspondent for POLITICO. Her work there included stories on President Obama’s complicated relationship with civil rights leaders, high staff turnover in the First Lady’s East Wing, the president’s relationship with the gay community, and issues including immigration, economic policy, Congress and more. Julie also served as White House correspondent for the Washington Examiner. She spent 20 years at the Houston Chronicle, making her way from the city desk through governmental beats including City Hall, the state legislature, state and national politics, and the White House. The first of many to blog the West Wing, Julie authored the popular Houston Chronicle humor blog, Beltway Confidential. In 10 years as a White House correspondent, Julie traveled the world with two presidents and has written extensively about foreign affairs. She covered four presidential campaigns and more debates and conventions than should be legal. In 2009, Julie was elected by the White House press corps to serve as an at-large member of the White House Correspondents Association board, where she pushed for better press access at the White House. She also led a successful campaign to reverse a policy restricting the distribution of White House pool reports. Julie is a frequent guest on television and radio and has appeared on NBC Nightly News, ABC’s Nightline, MSNBC, the CBS Early Show, CNN, NPR and more. A native of Massachusetts, Julie is a graduate of Lawrence Academy and briefly attended American University.
